The Bold, The Beautiful, and The WeirdRocco and I worked on interesting instruments this month. Rockstar Rob brought us a fancy American-made Telecaster Deluxe. It is a beautiful instrument that needed minimal set-up. But for the price tag — around $1800 — I’ve played instruments a third of the price that are just as good, if not better. The high E-string is a little close to the edge of the fretboard, which seems to be a “Telecaster thing.” Either way, we appreciate Rob‘s patronage and a chance to play this fancy American-made Fender product.![]() Rob’s American Telecaster Deluxe. |
| On the other end of the electric guitar spectrum, Rockstar Dean needed work done on his Stadium acoustic as well as a custom-made electric guitar. The Stadium is a cheap acoustic that punches above its class in terms of sound and playability. |
Dean’s custom polkadot guitar began life as a Stratocaster copy and was modified to its current shape. Rocco and I did some fret work on it, and it plays pretty well. It is a very funky one-of-a-kind instrument. Rocco and I appreciate creative builds! Play loud, Dean!![]() Angus gets cozy with Dean’s custom shredder. |
| Finally, Rocco and I wired up our custom Jimmy Page Telecaster! This guitar was originally a gift from Mark Zampella that we decided to refinish with Jimmy Page’s custom dragon artwork. This Tele glow-up was nearly complete over a year ago, but I wasn’t happy with the way the pickguard turned out, so we never finished it. The pickguard still stinks, but the guitar is wired up and ready to go. Rock on! ![]() ![]() Rob and Rocco with our custom Jimmy Page tele! |

Play loud, Dean!
