| Welcome to November, Rockstars! Be thankful! Gibson J-40 updateLast month, Rockstar Bob brought us an old Gibson J-40 acoustic for repair. The top of the guitar was cracked and caved in. Rocco and I bought these groovy little jacksto prop up the guitar’s top, but it didn’t help much. We glued and strengthened what we could, and were able to improve this guitar by 40%. It sounds great and plays fine up to the seventh fret, but the action gets a little high after that. But Rocco and I got this vintage Gibson playable again. | Ace of Bass Rockstar Gareth brought in his Precision Bass and Jazz Bass this month. The nut on his P-bass cracked, so Rocco and I replaced it. His Jazz Bass needed new strings and a setup. Gareth is in a bunch of different bands, playing everything from emo to metal, so his basses keep busy. Rock on, Gareth! ![]() Angus grabs a cat nap on Gareth’s P-Bass. Zodiac Rising Rocco and I also worked on Zodiac. This acoustic guitar has the twelve signs of the zodiac etched into the top along with a zodiac wheel. The headstock is engraved with sun shapes. Then we drilled a few holes and added a funky soundhole cover. And lights. We want to stain the top to look like the night sky. But not too dark. More blue. Then we will string it up and see how it sounds. Stay tuned! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
