Some guitars go together easy. The Pledge Music Axe wasn’t one of them. Rocco and I had to work to make this guitar work!
A Tough Birth
This seafoam green Tele turned out nice, but it was a difficult birth. The neck and body didn’t line up quite right, and the high E-string sits closer to the edge of the upper frets than I’d like. The body is a string-through, so shifting the bridge a few millimeters wasn’t an option. I did my best, but it’s still a bit weird.
Bucking Hum
The Pledge Music Axe had a noisy bridge up. I finally solved the pickup problem by swapping in a set of rail-style humbucker pickups (from one of my personal instruments!) Now the PledgeMusic Axe is a rock-n-roll machine! Despite the tough build, The Pledge Music Axe is very playable and sounds great. Listen to the Pledge Music Axe below and listen for the high notes—tweedle, tweedle, tweedle, dee!
Pledge Alligence
WTF is PledgeMusic? It’s an amazing service where musicians and fans connect. Check it out HERE. Thanks to Dominic at Pledge Music for his support, and patience, with this project! The Pledge Music Axe isn’t a perfect guitar, but it does live up to the IYG Creed—unique, one-of-a-kind instruments, build by (and for) unique, one-of-a-kind individuals!
